OpenAI Codex / ChatGPT
Connect OpenAI Codex / ChatGPT to AudioLab Router.
Configuration
Install OpenAI Codex / ChatGPT and Node.js 20 or later. Create an AudioLab workspace key with llm.write, available credits, and access to the selected model. Export it as AUDIOLAB_API_KEY in the terminal that launches the agent.

The command previews the files and fields it changes. Confirm to apply; it stores a private backup and prints an undo command. It does not store the API key or change your shell profile. Automatic file setup supports macOS and Linux.
npx https://tryaudiolab.ai/cli/router-0.1.0.tgz setup --agent codexLaunch
npx https://tryaudiolab.ai/cli/router-0.1.0.tgz run codexRequires Codex 0.134 or later for separate profile files. This config connects local Codex to the Router API; it does not connect the hosted ChatGPT app or transfer subscription credits. Stateless text and client tools are supported; stored responses, hosted search, images, and remote compaction are not.
Supported Configuration
Use Codex 0.134 or later. The separate profile preserves your normal config and login. gpt-5.3-codex selects the reviewed native Responses path; choosing an arbitrary chat model is not equivalent. The profile disables hosted search, image generation, multi-agent namespaces, and WebSocket transport. Stateless text and client function/custom tools are supported. Stored responses, remote compaction, media input, hosted tools, and background requests are not. Codex 0.154 was checked against a local streaming fixture and Router validation. Start a new conversation before remote compaction is needed. ChatGPT subscription credits and the hosted ChatGPT app are separate from Router API access.
Verify the Connection
Send a short text prompt, then a read-only tool request in a disposable project. Check the model, request record, and usage in Router. Test streaming and a follow-up turn before using a longer workflow. Client-specific tools and permissions remain managed by OpenAI Codex / ChatGPT.
The setup command can check authentication and model discovery without generating a response. See the protocol contracts for model and feature limits.
